ChoiceOne and UM St. Joseph Medical Center Partner to Open New Urgent Care Center
ChoiceOne Urgent Care has partnered with the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center (UM SJMC) to open a new location here in Belvedere Square!
“We are opening a location at Belvedere Square to fulfill the healthcare needs of the growing Belvedere Square community,” said Dr. Scott Burger, chief medical officer at ChoiceOne Urgent Care. “Many patients need immediate medical care in the evenings and on the weekend or when they cannot be seen by their primary care provider during the day. Urgent care is often the most convenient, cost-effective and appropriate solution for these patients. For added convenience, we offer patients the ability to check-in online before arriving at the center. If they need follow-up care and do not have a regular provider, we can refer them to the UM SJMC primary and specialty care providers.”
In addition to its Belvedere Square location, ChoiceOne operates urgent care centers in Dundalk, Phoenix, and Rotunda in partnership with UM SJMC and has ten urgent care centers total in Maryland. The collaboration between ChoiceOne Urgent Care and UM SJMC provides an option for patients who are unable to get to their primary physician quickly or after hours, but who are not in need of the services of an emergency room.

University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Group’s Pediatric Outpatient Care is relocating to the new ChoiceOne Urgent Care at Belvedere Square. UM SJMG providers, Nicolette Morris, MD, Erica Ciminelli, MD, and Wendy Scarcella, CRNP, look forward to continuing to care for children at this new location.
The ChoiceOne Belvedere Square center, features private exam rooms, a triage area, and state-of-the-art equipment, including an on-site x-ray facility; all in a welcoming, spa-like environment. ChoiceOne providers diagnose and treat non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, such as colds, flu, broken bones, headaches, infections, and sprains. ChoiceOne also provides preoperative exams, sports physicals, and occupational health services, including pre-employment physicals, drug testing, and workers’ compensation.
Providers see patients seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., including most holidays. Patients can walk-in without an appointment or check-in online at www.ChoiceOneUC.com. ChoiceOne accepts most insurance plans and governmental plans, including Medicare and Medicaid.
ChoiceOne is celebrating its new Belvedere Square center opening with a weekend-long celebration, December 7 – 9. ChoiceOne will be giving away free gift cards to local Belvedere Square merchants, while supplies last. On Saturday, December 8, Santa Claus will be visiting ChoiceOne Urgent Care at Belvedere Square from 10 am to 1 pm. Please feel free to take pictures of your child with Santa.
